What?

eRecords include any kind of information stored in an electronic format. Most obviously this includes e-mail and word-processing documents, but it also includes databases, spreadsheets, and image files. eRecords can exist on workstation or server hard-drives, floppy disks, compact disks, DVDs, or any other magnetic media used for storage or back-ups, such as DAT tapes.

Why?

The legal aspects of electronic records management is a fast-changing realm of high concern to record managers, in-house counsel, professionals, and non-professionals. At least, it should be of high concern, given the legal ramifications of failing to stay informed on the legal requirements of electronic records management.
